When to replace it
The top housing takes the sun, the chemistry and every knock the cleaner gives a wall or a step. Over the years the plastic hardens and starts to crack, usually at a mounting point first. A broken housing stops holding the cleaner square, and the internals it was covering start collecting the debris the machine is meant to be carrying away.
