Polaris 39-420 is the wheel sprocket assembly with bearing for the Polaris 3900 Sport pool cleaner. It is the genuine OEM part, supplied complete with its bearing rather than as separate pieces.
What it does
The sprocket is the link between the drive train and the wheel. When it wears, or when the bearing inside it goes rough, the wheel stops turning cleanly and the cleaner starts stalling, tracking oddly or parking itself in one corner of the pool. Owners often chase the belts or the water pressure first, when the sprocket is the part that has given up.
While you are in there
Wear on a 3900 is usually even across the machine, so once one sprocket assembly has failed the others are close behind. Turn each wheel by hand and feel for play or grinding before you close the cleaner back up.
