Old style to new style

What the float does
The head float sets how the cleaner rides. It holds the front at the right attitude so the unit tracks the floor, turns properly and climbs the walls instead of ploughing along the bottom.
The symptom
A float that has cracked or split at the seam takes on water. Once it does, the cleaner sits nose down, loses its pattern and leaves the waterline dirty. Shake a suspect float: if you can hear water inside it, that is the problem.
