Product details

Polaris R0538000 is the head float kit for the 3900 Sport pressure side pool cleaner. It is the genuine Polaris part, and it is the new style float.

Old style to new style

Polaris changed the design of the head float, and the new style supersedes the old one. If your 3900 Sport still carries the earlier float, this kit replaces it directly, so there is no need to hunt for the discontinued version.

What the float does

The head float sets how the cleaner rides. It holds the front at the right attitude so the unit tracks the floor, turns properly and climbs the walls instead of ploughing along the bottom.

The symptom

A float that has cracked or split at the seam takes on water. Once it does, the cleaner sits nose down, loses its pattern and leaves the waterline dirty. Shake a suspect float: if you can hear water inside it, that is the problem.
