Polaris 48-036 is the wheel lock screw for the Polaris 3900 and Polaris 480 pool cleaners. It is the genuine part, in metal, and it is the fastener that holds a wheel onto its axle.

Small part, whole cleaner

A cleaner that suddenly drags, turns in circles or leaves a wheel behind in the deep end has usually lost one of these. The screw works underwater against constant load and vibration, and when it backs out there is nothing holding the wheel on the axle.

How many screws do I get?

What does the screw actually do?
It locks a wheel onto its axle. Without it the wheel walks off and the cleaner loses drive on that corner.
Can I use a generic screw?
Not sensibly. It is a specific length and thread working underwater under constant load, and a substitute that backs out takes the wheel with it.
