The Polaris 39-500 is the complete sweep hose tail for the 3900 Sport pressure side pool cleaner. It is the genuine Polaris part, and the current version is supplied with the Tail Sweep PRO, TSP10P.
What the sweep tail does
The tail is the whipping hose at the back of the cleaner. Pressurized water drives it around so it stirs debris off walls, steps and corners that the cleaner body never touches, pushing it out where the cleaner can pick it up. It is the part of the machine that works hardest against the pool surface.
When to replace it
Tails wear out. They shorten, split and fray, and once that happens the sweeping action drops off even though the cleaner still drives its pattern. This is the complete assembly, so the old one comes off and the new one goes on without touching anything else.
