The Waterway 805-0136 is the genuine air relief o-ring for Clearwater II cartridge filters. It is the small seal that sits under the manual air relief valve on the filter lid.
What it does
Every cartridge filter needs a way to bleed trapped air after the lid goes back on. The manual air relief does that job, and this o-ring is what keeps the valve from leaking once the air is out and the tank is under pressure.
When to change it
If the relief valve drips or sprays when the pump starts, and closing it further does not stop it, the o-ring has hardened or taken a set. It is inexpensive enough that most techs replace it whenever the filter is opened for a cartridge clean. Seat it with a silicone based lubricant, not a petroleum grease, which will swell the rubber and cause the same leak again.
