The Hayward SPX1491B is a genuine Hayward o-ring, specified across a range of the company unions, valves and pumps. It is the rubber seal in the joint, and it is the part of that joint designed to be replaced.

O-rings are the one part where measuring the old one is the least reliable way to buy.
