Product details

The Pentair 273513 is the rubber o-ring that seals the air bleeder screw. It is the genuine Pentair part.

What it seals

Every pressure filter needs a way to purge trapped air after the lid comes off, and that bleeder screw seals against this o-ring. It is a tiny part carrying the full working pressure of the filter at the highest point of the tank.

The symptom

A steady drip or a fine spray from the top of the filter after you close the bleeder. People chase the lid gasket and the clamp for weeks before looking at the bleeder o-ring, which is almost always the culprit when the leak is at the bleeder itself.

Fitment

Pentair lists it for FNS DE filters, Nautilus and Nautilus Plus DE filters, and Triton C and C-3 sand filters. It also appears in the Triton II TR40 through TR140 and the Triton II TR100C and TR140C sand filter parts listings.

My filter drips from the air bleeder. Is this the fix?
Usually. The bleeder screw seals on this o-ring, and once the o-ring hardens, flattens or splits, the joint weeps. Replacing it is the first thing to try.
Which filters use it?
Pentair lists it for FNS DE filters, Nautilus and Nautilus Plus DE filters, and Triton C and C-3 sand filters. It also appears in the Triton II sand filter parts listings.
Should I lubricate it?
A light film of an o-ring lubricant made for pool equipment helps it seat and makes the next removal easier. Do not use petroleum grease on pool o-rings.
Can I just reuse the old one?
Not if it is flat, cracked or shiny and hard. Rubber takes a set in the groove, and a reused o-ring is the reason a lot of filters go back together and still drip.
