Product details

The Pentair 070428Z is the clamp bolt for Purex and PacFab Nautilus Plus stainless DE filters. It is the genuine Pentair part, listed at 1/4 in 20 x 3-1/2 in.

What it does

Stainless DE filter tanks are made in two halves held together by a clamp ring, and the bolt is what draws that ring tight. It lives outdoors, wet, for years, so it corrodes and stretches. A bolt that no longer pulls the band down evenly leaves the tank seeping at the seam, and forcing a tired bolt is how the band gets damaged as well.

Fitment

The part is listed for the Purex 2000 series stainless DE filters, models SMBW 2024, 2036, 2048, 2060 and 2072 along with 1018, 1027, 1036, 1045 and 1054, and for the Pentair PacFab Nautilus Plus INS DE models INS24, INS36 and INS48. Note that the source names it a clamp bolt in one place and a clamp bolt kit in another, so check the description against the fasteners you actually need.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What size is the bolt?
The source lists it as 1/4 in 20 x 3-1/2 in.
Which filters does it fit?
The Purex 2000 series stainless DE filters, models SMBW 2024, 2036, 2048, 2060 and 2072 plus 1018, 1027, 1036, 1045 and 1054, and the Pentair PacFab Nautilus Plus INS DE models INS24, INS36 and INS48.
Is this one bolt or a kit?
The source describes it both ways, as a clamp bolt in the product title and as a clamp bolt kit in the part name, so confirm the contents against what you need before ordering.
What does the clamp bolt do?
It is the fastener that pulls the clamp ring tight around the split filter tank. A corroded or stretched bolt will not hold the halves sealed, which shows up as a leak at the tank band.
