Product details

The Pentair 76033, also written 076033, is the replacement tank clamp knob for PacFab Nautilus and Nautilus Plus DE filters and the Purex 4000 Series molded DE filters. The source describes it as the part for units built after 1999.

What the knob does

A DE filter tank is two halves held together by a band clamp. The knob is the threaded handle that draws that clamp tight. It gets turned every time the filter is opened for a tear down or a grid inspection, and that is when it strips, cracks or snaps off.

Fit it before the system runs

A tank clamp that cannot be properly tensioned is not a cosmetic problem. The filter operates under pressure and the clamp is what keeps the halves together. If the knob is broken or the threads are gone, replace it before the pump is started again.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which filters does this knob fit?
It is listed against the Pentair PacFab Nautilus Plus DE, PacFab Nautilus DE and Purex 4000 Series molded DE filters.
Does it matter how old my filter is?
Yes. The source describes this as the replacement knob for filters after 1999, so check the age of the unit before ordering.
Is 76033 the same as 076033?
They are the same part number, written with and without the leading zero. Both appear in the source facts.
Can I run the filter with a damaged knob?
Do not. The knob tensions the clamp that holds the tank together, and a filter tank that is not properly clamped is a serious pressure hazard. Replace the knob before the system is started.
