Product details

The Pentair 170020 is the tank lid for the FNS Plus 36 square foot DE filter, model FNS36. It is a new genuine Pentair part.

What it is

The FNS Plus tank is built in two halves held together by a band clamp. This is the upper half, the domed lid that carries the air relief and clamps down onto the tank body. It is not the full tank and it does not include the filter internals.

When you need one

Filter tops live outdoors under constant pressure cycling. Over the years the plastic crazes, and once the surface is crazed or cracked the lid begins to seep, usually near the clamp line. Tightening the clamp harder does not fix it and can make the crack worse. Replacing the lid is the repair.

Before you order

Match the model on the tank label. FNS Plus is sold in several square footages and the lids are specific to each size, so a 36 SQFT lid will not seat correctly on a larger tank.

Will it fit a larger FNS Plus?
No. The FNS Plus range is built in several sizes and the tank halves are matched to each one. Check the model on the tank label before ordering.
Is the clamp or O-ring included?
No. This listing is the tank lid. The band clamp and the tank O-ring are separate parts.
Why would a lid need replacing?
Years of sun and pressure cycling craze the plastic. Once it is crazed or cracked the lid seeps at pressure, and no amount of retorquing the clamp will stop it.
