Quick overview
- Genuine Pentair Factory part 194997Z, machined rather than cast to a generic thread.
- Fits three DE filter families Listed for the Pentair FNS, INS and Quad DE filters.
- Brass clamp nut The nut that pulls the tank clamp band closed around the filter halves.
- Metal, not plastic A metal nut holds torque and does not round off the way a worn plastic replacement does.
- Common wear point Threads gall and corrode over years of seasonal opening, and a nut that will not draw down properly is the usual cause of a weeping clamp.
- Small part, whole tank The clamp is what keeps a pressurised filter sealed, so this is not a piece to improvise on.

Product details
The Pentair 194997Z is the machined clamp nut used on the FNS, INS and Quad DE filters. It is the genuine Pentair part, described in the factory data as a brass clamp nut.
What it does
A DE filter tank is held together by a clamp band, and the band is drawn closed by a threaded nut. That nut carries the whole clamping load against system pressure. When its threads corrode, gall or strip, the band cannot be pulled down evenly and the tank starts to weep at the split line, usually right after a filter has been opened for a clean.
Before you order
Confirm you have an FNS, INS or Quad DE filter, and inspect the tank o-ring while the filter is open. A leaking split line is often the o-ring rather than the nut, and it is cheap insurance to replace both while the tank is apart.
