Product details
The Pentair 98209803 is the manual air relief valve assembly used on the 2000 Series, 4000 Series and FNS Plus filters. It is the genuine Pentair part, supplied as the complete assembly.
What it does
This is the small valve on top of the filter tank that you open to bleed trapped air after cleaning the filter or restarting the pump. Air left in the tank makes the gauge read wrong, cuts flow, and in a pressurised tank it is what makes a lid dangerous to open.
When to replace it
Two symptoms send people to this part. The valve weeps water constantly and leaves the tank top wet, or the valve seizes and will not open or close cleanly. In both cases the internal seal and stem have worn, and the assembly is replaced as a unit. Always shut the pump down and release all tank pressure before touching it.
