The Pentair 190036 is the genuine standpipe assembly for the 48 square foot PacFab FNS DE filter.
What the standpipe does
It is the center column that runs up through the tank. The grid manifold seats on top of it and every gallon of filtered water leaves the filter through it. That makes the standpipe a sealing surface as much as a pipe.
Why it matters when it cracks
Damage to the standpipe or a poor seal at the manifold lets water skip the grids entirely. The symptom owners see is DE powder and dirt returning to the pool through the returns after a recharge, which is often blamed on the grids when the center column is the real fault.
Supplied as the complete assembly for the 48 sq ft filter. If you are already opening the tank to change grids, inspect and replace this at the same time.
