Pentair 59001500 is a tie rod for a 36 square foot DE pool filter, threaded 1/4 inch and measuring 21-1/2 inches long.

What tie rods do

Inside a DE filter the grids are held as a stack, and the tie rods are the hardware that clamps that stack into one rigid assembly. If a rod corrodes through or a nut lets go, the grid stack loosens, elements shift and DE finds its way back into the pool. Rod length is tied to the tank size, which is why the 36 square foot filter takes this 21-1/2 inch rod rather than the longer ones used on the bigger tanks.

Fitting notes

Rods age at more or less the same rate, so if one has failed the others are usually close behind. Replacing the full set keeps the clamping load even across the assembly.
