Product details

The Blue Torrent BTIGV200 is a 2.0 HP variable speed pump for inground pools, plumbed with 1.5 inch and 2 inch ports.

Why variable speed

Water moves through pool plumbing far more efficiently at low speed than at high speed, and a variable speed pump lets you take advantage of that: run longer hours at a lower setting and the same turnover costs a fraction of the electricity. Noise drops with the speed as well, which matters when the pad is close to the house.

Sizing and plumbing

At 2.0 HP this is a full sized inground pump. The dual sized ports take 1.5 inch or 2 inch pipe, so on most pads it goes in without reworking the plumbing. Check the electrical supply at the pad against the pump requirements before installing.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What size ports does it have?
The pump is listed with 1.5 inch and 2 inch ports, so it fits the plumbing sizes used on most inground pads.
Is this a variable speed pump?
Yes. It is the Blue Torrent 2.0 HP VS, so the motor speed can be set rather than running at one fixed rate.
Why choose variable speed over single speed?
A pump moves the same volume of water more efficiently at lower speed over longer hours, so running slower for longer uses far less electricity than short bursts at full speed.
Is it for an inground pool?
Yes. It is listed as an inground pool pump.
