Product details

This is the King Technology cap O-ring, part 01-22-1926, for the Pool Frog and Performance Max mineral cyclers. It seals the cap against the body of the unit.

What it does

The cycler runs under system pressure. The cap O-ring is the seal that keeps that pressure inside the housing, and it is the part that gives up first because it is compressed and released every time the cap is opened. Rubber that has been squeezed for a season and then dried out takes a permanent set, and it will no longer close the gap when the cap goes back on.

King Technology lists this O-ring on the parts diagrams for the Pool Frog and Performance Max in-line models 100, 200 and 910, the off-line models 130, 230 and 930, and the above ground 920 and 6100 units.

Fitting

Wipe the groove and the sealing face clean before the new ring goes in, and a thin smear of silicone O-ring lubricant will help it seat evenly. Keep petroleum based grease away from it. If the cap is opened for a cartridge change it is worth fitting a fresh O-ring at the same time rather than reusing one that has already been compressed.

Why is my cycler cap leaking?
Almost always the cap O-ring. Once it takes a permanent set or dries out it no longer springs back against the sealing face, and water finds its way past.
Should I lubricate it?
A thin film of a silicone based O-ring lubricant on installation helps it seat and makes the next cap removal easier. Petroleum greases attack rubber, so avoid them.
How often should it be replaced?
There is no fixed interval. Inspect it every time the cap comes off, and replace it as soon as it looks flat, cracked or glazed rather than round and supple.
