The AquaStar AFBV is the FillStar float valve, the part of a pool water leveler that decides when to add water.
How it works
The valve sits in the leveler and rides on a float. When evaporation, splash out and backwashing drop the pool, the float falls with the level and opens the valve to the fill line. As the pool comes back up, the float rises and closes it again. There is nothing to time and nothing to switch on.
Why it earns its place
Skimmers only work in a narrow band of water level. A pool that has dropped an inch too far lets the skimmer pull air, which is hard on the pump seal and noisy at the pad. A pool that is too high stops skimming the surface at all. A leveler keeps the pool inside that band without anyone remembering to drag a hose out.
