When to replace it
Deck lids live outdoors, get walked on, get furniture dragged over them and spend every day in the sun. They chalk, they crack around the lip, and eventually one gets levered up and never goes back. Once the lid is gone the housing fills with grit and leaf litter, the float can jam, and there is an open pot in a deck people cross barefoot.
