The Pentair 236950 is the square o-ring used on the Style I floor cleaning head. It is the genuine part, in the square profile the head is machined for.

Why the profile matters

Cleaning head grooves are cut for the ring that belongs in them. A round o-ring in a square groove does not load the same way and will not seal reliably, so this is not a part to substitute from a generic assortment.

When to change it

Replace it if a head seeps, sits badly or gets pulled for any other service. It is a small enough part that changing the seal while a head is already out is simply cheaper than going back a second time.
