The Pentair 590032 is the orifice kit for MagicStream laminars, the part Pentair also describes as the orifice light enhancer. It is the genuine factory component.

Why the orifice matters

A laminar works by pushing water through a precisely shaped opening so it leaves as a smooth arc rather than a spray. Everything that makes the effect worth having, the clarity of the arc and the way light travels down it, depends on that opening being clean and true. Scale, grit and general wear roughen it, and the stream starts to break up partway across the pool.

What does the orifice actually do?
It is the shaped opening the water exits through. A laminar only throws a clear, solid looking arc when that opening is smooth and undamaged.
Why is it called a light enhancer?
Pentair lists the part as the orifice light enhancer, because a clean orifice is what lets the laminar carry its light cleanly down the length of the stream.
Will it fit any laminar?
It is the Pentair part for MagicStream laminars. Other brands of laminar use their own orifices.
When should I replace it?
When the arc has gone ragged, splits partway out, or the stream has lost its clarity even after the laminar has been cleaned.
