Product details

The CMP Pool Defender 25810-500-000 is a retrofit kit that adds water bonding to a standard above ground pool pump. It installs through the pump strainer drain plug, so the pump itself needs only minimal modification.

What the kit is for

NEC Section 680.26 (C) requires an intentional electric bond with a minimum conductive surface area of nine square inches in contact with above ground pool water. Plenty of installed pumps were never set up that way, and this kit is how that gets corrected without replacing the pump.

Fitting it

The kit goes into the existing strainer drain plug port, which keeps the plumbing and the pump body as they are. Bonding is electrical work that is inspected against code, so have the completed installation done or checked by a qualified electrician.
