This is the genuine Polaris quick disconnect for the universal wall fitting, part 6-502-00. It is listed for the Polaris 65 and 165 pool cleaners.

Where it sits

The UWF is the fitting in the pool wall that feeds the cleaner. The quick disconnect is the piece at that connection which lets the hose come off without tools, so the cleaner can be pulled out when people want to swim and clipped back in afterwards.

Why it fails

That connection gets handled more than any other part of the cleaner. Between the pulling, the sun and the treated water, the plastic eventually goes brittle or loses its grip on the hose. When it will not hold or has cracked, replacing it is a five minute job that gets the cleaner running properly again.
