The Raypak P-R266A-EN-X, part 014939, is a natural gas pool and spa heater with digital ignition and a cupro-nickel fin tube heat exchanger, jetted for elevations from sea level to 2000 feet.
Why cupro-nickel
The heat exchanger is the part of a gas heater that fails first, and it fails because of water chemistry rather than fire. Cupro-nickel handles low pH, high salt and swings in balance far better than a plain copper exchanger, which is why it is the specification of choice on salt pools and on any pool where the chemistry is not watched closely.
Controls and cabinet
Digital IID control brings electronic ignition, so there is no standing pilot to relight, and the setpoint is managed from the panel. The cabinet is corrosion resistant and low profile, which keeps it unobtrusive at the pad.

Is this heater 240K BTU or 266K BTU?
The source material is inconsistent. The listing title states 240K BTU and the manufacturer description for the same P-R266A-EN-X model states 266K BTU. Confirm the output with us before ordering if the exact rating matters for your permit or sizing.
What is the advantage of the cupro-nickel exchanger?
Cupro-nickel tolerates aggressive water better than plain copper, which matters on salt pools and on water that runs out of balance. It is the exchanger to choose if the heater will see hard service.
Will it work at high elevation?
Not this version. It is jetted with the #51 orifice for 0 to 2000 feet. Above that, Raypak builds high altitude models with different orifices.
Does it run on propane?
No. This is the natural gas model, P-R266A-EN-X. Raypak sells propane versions of the same heater under separate part numbers.
