The Raypak B-R206A-EN-X, part 017399, is a 200,000 BTU natural gas pool heater built to ASME code, with a bronze header and a cupro-nickel heat exchanger.
Why this build
Three things separate this heater from a standard residential unit. It is ASME coded, which is what commercial, municipal and institutional pools are usually required to install. The heat exchanger is cupro-nickel, which handles salt water and aggressive chemistry that would shorten the life of a copper exchanger. And the header is bronze, matched to the same conditions.
Controls
Digital IID control means the heater lights electronically on demand instead of holding a standing pilot, and the digital panel gives you readable temperature control rather than a dial.

This is the natural gas model, rated for sites from 0 to 2000 feet of elevation. Propane and high altitude installations use different Raypak models. The heater ships freight.

What does the ASME designation mean for me?
It is the pressure vessel code many commercial, municipal and institutional pools are required to meet. On a residential pool it is usually more heater than the rules ask for.
Why the cupro-nickel exchanger?
Cupro-nickel stands up to salt water and to aggressive water chemistry far better than a standard copper exchanger. If you run a salt pool, this is the exchanger you want.
Will it work at my elevation?
It is built for 0 to 2000 feet. Above that, Raypak specifies a different model, so check your site elevation before ordering.
Can it run on propane?
No. This is the natural gas version. Propane is a separate model in the Raypak range.
