Quick overview

  • Two locks, not one The pole uses an inner cam together with an outside lock, which is where the dual lock name comes from.
  • Six to twelve feet Two piece construction, collapsing to 6 ft and extending to 12 ft.
  • A proven design The outside lock has been in service since 1959 and has stayed in the line for a reason.
  • Tough plastics The lock components are molded from heavy duty plastic rather than thin injection parts.
  • Pressed nylon fitting The nylon male fitting is pressed onto the outer tube under extreme pressure, so it does not work loose.
  • Serviceable fittings The female and ferrule fittings can be replaced when they wear instead of retiring the pole.

Product details

The Skimlite 7112 is a two piece telescoping pool pole from the Promax line, running from 6 ft collapsed to 12 ft extended. What sets it apart is the locking: it uses an inner cam and an outside lock together rather than one or the other.

The outside lock

The outside lock design dates back to 1959 and has stayed in production because it works. The lock parts are molded from heavy duty plastic, and the nylon male fitting is pressed onto the outer tube under enormous pressure during manufacture, so it stays where it was put rather than working loose after a season of hard use.

Built to be serviced

The female and ferrule fittings are wear parts by design, and they are meant to be replaced. That is the difference between a pole that gets thrown away when a joint stops holding and one that gets a new fitting and goes back on the truck. For a service company running poles daily, that adds up.

Naming

You will see this pole listed as both the 7000 Promax Series with inner cam and as the Promax Elite Series Super Duty Dual Lock. Both refer to part number 7112.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What does dual lock mean?
The pole carries both an inner cam and an outside lock. The two work together to hold the length you set rather than relying on a single mechanism.
Is this the Promax Elite or the 7000 Promax?
Our source uses both names for the same part number, 7112. Treat them as the same pole and order by the part number.
Can the fittings be replaced?
Yes. The female and ferrule fittings are designed to be swapped out once they wear, so a worn joint does not mean a new pole.
Will the male fitting pull off?
It is pressed onto the outer tube under very high pressure during manufacture, which is what keeps it seated in service.
