Product details

The Swimables SW-26-855 is a 3/4 inch stainless steel air vent for Nautilus FNS and FNS Plus filters. It replaces part number 172855.

What the air vent does

Air collects at the top of a filter tank whenever the system is opened, drained or has drawn air on a poor prime. That air has to come out, and the vent at the top of the tank is how it goes. Left in, it cuts flow, makes the pressure gauge read strangely and can make a tank behave in ways that get blamed on the filter media.

Why they get replaced

The vent is the most handled fitting on the whole filter, so it wears out first. Stainless steel gives the body more life than plastic in a part that is opened and closed constantly and lives in sun and pool chemistry. This is an aftermarket Swimables part rather than an original manufacturer one, offered as a direct alternative to 172855.

Why does the air vent need replacing?
