Product details

The Hayward ECX12866 is the gauge adapter for Perflex extended cycle DE filters. It is the genuine Hayward part, molded in plastic.

What it does

The adapter threads into the filter head and does two jobs. It gives the pressure gauge somewhere to mount, and it doubles as the inspection port. Because it is the one fitting on the filter that gets unscrewed and re-tightened routinely, it is also the one that takes the most abuse.

Which filters it covers

Hayward lists the adapter for the Perflex EC50, EC50C, EC50A and EC50AC filters, and for the EC65, EC65A, EC75 and EC75A. If you are not sure which one you have, the model is on the label on the tank.

Fitting it

The o-ring that seals the adapter is a separate Hayward part. A new adapter on an old, flattened seal will still weep, so plan on changing both while the filter is open.

Which Perflex filters does this fit?

Hayward lists it for the Perflex extended cycle DE filters: EC50, EC50C, EC50A and EC50AC, plus EC65, EC65A, EC75 and EC75A.

Does the o-ring come with it?

No. The o-ring for the gauge adapter is a separate Hayward part. Since the adapter has to seal against the filter, it is worth ordering the o-ring at the same time.

Is the pressure gauge included?

No. This is the adapter the gauge threads into, supplied on its own.

Why would I replace it?

Usually because the threads have been damaged fitting a gauge, because the plastic has cracked at the boss, or because the port weeps and no amount of tightening stops it.
