The Hayward ECX1014A is the bump shaft kit for Perflex DE filters, supplied with the o-ring and e-clip. It is the genuine Hayward part.
How a Perflex is cleaned
A Perflex does not get taken apart to clean. The bump handle on top is stroked up and down, and that motion travels down the bump shaft into the filter, shaking the DE off the flex tubes and spreading it back on evenly. That bump cycle is the whole maintenance routine, which is why a failed shaft takes the filter out of service.
What usually goes wrong
Two things. The shaft itself wears or bends so the bump no longer moves the internals properly, and the o-ring on the shaft hardens and lets water weep out around the handle. The kit covers both, along with the e-clip that retains the assembly.
What it does not include
The complete bump handle is a separate Hayward part. If the handle itself is broken rather than the shaft below it, that is what you need instead.
