The Hayward SPX1500N1 is the tube sheet screw for the Perflex DE filter family. It is the genuine Hayward part, in metal.
What the tube sheet does
A Perflex filters on flex tubes rather than grids, and the tube sheet is the plate that holds those tubes in position inside the tank. If its fasteners are loose or missing, the assembly shifts under flow and the filter stops behaving the way it should.
When to change them
Screws inside a DE filter sit in chlorinated water for years. They corrode, the heads round off, and they seize. Any time the tank is open for a tube change or a bump assembly service, look at the hardware while you are in there and replace anything that is pitted or chewed up rather than putting it back.
