Product details

The Hayward SPX1500Y1 is the tube sheet nut for Perflex DE filters. It is a genuine Hayward part, made of metal.

What it holds

Inside a Perflex filter, the tube sheet is the plate the flex tubes mount into. The tube sheet nut is what secures that assembly in position within the tank. It is a small piece of hardware, but if it is corroded, stripped or missing, the element assembly is no longer held where it should be and the filter will not do its job.

When to replace it

If you have the filter open for a tube rebuild or a DE element change, look at the nut while you are in there. Threads that are chewed or a nut that has corroded should be replaced rather than reused, because it costs very little compared to going back into the tank a second time.

Fitment

Hayward lists this nut across the Perflex range: the EC30 and EC40, the EC50 family, the EC60 Series II, and the EC65 and EC75 models.

What does the tube sheet nut do?
It is the fastener that secures the tube sheet inside the filter tank. The tube sheet is what the flex tubes mount into, so the nut is what keeps the whole element assembly located.
Can I use a nut from a hardware store?
Use the Hayward part. The thread and the seating are specific to the Perflex assembly, and a close-enough substitute is how a rebuild ends up leaking or shifting under pressure.
