Product details

The Hayward ECX1004ASET is the top and bottom tube sheet set for the EC40 and EC50 filters. It is the genuine Hayward part and comes as a pair rather than a single sheet.

What a tube sheet does

The tube sheets are the two plates that hold the element assembly together, one at each end. They set the spacing and keep everything square while the filter runs. When a sheet cracks, warps or loses a seat, the element no longer sits true, and the filter starts to bypass rather than filter.

Why both

The two sheets work as a pair and have been through exactly the same seasons, the same heat and the same chemistry. Replacing one and leaving the other usually just moves the next failure a year down the road, which is why Hayward sells them as a set. With the element apart you also have easy access to the tubes and the remaining hardware, so it is worth looking at all of it in the same session.
