Why hardware fails first
Filter bolts sit in the wettest, most chemical heavy corner of the equipment pad, and they are the parts that get worked every time a filter is opened. They corrode, they gall, and eventually a nut rounds off or a bolt snaps while it is being torqued. When that happens the filter cannot be closed properly, and no gasket will hold pressure without even clamping force.
