Product details
The Hayward ECX5000BP is the replacement DE filter head, complete with vent valve, for the Perflex EC50AC and EC40AC filters. It is the genuine Hayward OEM part, in the platinum finish.
What it is
The head is the molded plastic top of the filter tank. The air vent valve sits in it and is what you open to bleed trapped air out of the filter after servicing or restarting the system.
Why heads get replaced
Two reasons dominate. The plastic cracks with age, freeze damage or overtightening, and the tank starts to weep from the top. Or the vent valve seizes, snaps or leaks and cannot be freed, which leaves no clean way to purge air. Either way the head comes off and a new one goes on.

Check the model on the filter label. This head is for the EC50AC and EC40AC, and other Perflex models take different parts.
