The Hayward ECX1105 is the diaphragm gasket for the Perflex EC65, EC65A, EC75 and EC75A extended cycle DE filters. It is the genuine Hayward part, molded in rubber.
Where it sits
A Perflex filters through flex tubes coated in DE, and the diaphragm behind them is what bumps the coating loose during regeneration. This gasket seals that diaphragm against the tank. It is a small part doing a job the whole filter depends on, because anything that gets past it has bypassed the filtering surface entirely.
Symptoms of a failed gasket
Rubber hardens, takes a set and eventually splits. When this one goes, the usual signs are DE coming back into the pool, water that never quite clears, or a filter that will not build and hold normal pressure after a fresh charge.
When to fit one
Any time the Perflex is opened. The gasket costs little next to the labor of taking the filter apart, so replacing it during a diaphragm or flex tube service is the sensible order of work.
