- Raises total alkalinity Brings low total alkalinity back into range.
- Stops pH bounce Alkalinity is the buffer that holds pH steady, so correcting it is what stops pH swinging after every dose.

Product details
Pool Season Alkalinity Up is a granular total alkalinity increaser, supplied in a 10 lb pouch. It is 100% sodium hydrogen carbonate, the compound usually called sodium bicarbonate.
Alkalinity is the buffer
Total alkalinity is what stops pH moving on its own. When it sits low, pH bounces after every chemical dose, every rain and every heavy swim day, and no amount of pH adjustment holds. Bringing alkalinity into range is what makes pH stay where it is put.
What low alkalinity costs
Water with low alkalinity is aggressive. It goes after plaster and grout, etches surfaces and corrodes metal parts around the equipment pad. It also makes the sanitizer inconsistent, because chlorine performance follows pH and pH is unstable.
Using it
Granular, measured out and broadcast over the surface. This is the 10 lb pouch; the same product is sold in other sizes for larger pools and for routine topping up through the season.
