This is a complete closing package for a 27 foot round above ground pool: a solid winter cover cut at 31 feet round, a 35k chemical closing kit and a 4.5 by 15 foot air pillow, ordered together.

The cover

It is an 8 mil solid cover in silver on black triple laminated polyethylene, with heat sealed seams. The edge has aluminum grommets set every three feet. A deluxe aluminum cable winch and a vinyl coated steel lock down cable come with it, and the cover is warranted for 15 years.

Why the 4 foot overlap matters

At 31 feet on a 27 foot pool, the cover reaches well past the wall on every side. That margin is what the cable pulls against, and it is what keeps the cover from being dragged into the water by wind or by the weight of accumulated snow.

The pillow and the chemicals

The air pillow floats beneath the cover and absorbs the expansion of forming ice, taking that pressure off the pool wall, while also shedding rain and melt water toward the edge rather than letting it collect in the center. The 35k chemical closing kit treats the water before the cover goes on, so the pool is not sitting untreated for months.
