Leisure Time sodium bromide comes as a box of six 2 oz doses. It is the step that gets a bromine spa running: it puts a reserve of bromide into the water so the bromine tablets have something to work with.
How it fits the start up
Add 1/2 oz per 100 gallons of spa water to establish a 30 ppm bromide reserve, then add Brom Tabs to bring the bromine level up. Repeat both steps every time the spa is drained and refilled, because the reserve leaves with the old water.
What it is not
Sodium bromide is not a disinfectant. It builds the reserve; the sanitizer does the disinfecting. Skipping the sanitizer leaves the spa unprotected no matter how much bromide is in the water.
Run this way the spa stays fully bromine based, which is why bromine users do not get the chlorine smell that comes with a chlorine program. It works with all bromine systems.
