Bio-Active Cyanuric Acid Decreaser is a 16 oz CyA reducer from Oreq, part number CAD016Z. It lowers cyanuric acid in pool water through a biological process rather than by dilution.

The problem it solves

Cyanuric acid protects chlorine from sunlight, which is why stabilized products contain it. The catch is that CyA does not leave on its own. Every dose of stabilized chlorine adds more, and after a few seasons the level can climb high enough that the chlorine in the water stops working properly. The traditional answer has been to drain a large part of the pool and refill.

How this works instead

Bio-Active reduces CyA biologically and leaves no harmful or unsightly residue behind to affect bathers, plumbing or the environment. It is described as completely natural, biodegradable, non-toxic, non-allergenic, non-polluting and all natural.

Before you dose

One 16 oz unit treats a pool of up to 50,000 gallons, and the free chlorine level must be no higher than 7 ppm when you apply it. Test and, if necessary, let chlorine fall below that ceiling first, because a heavily chlorinated pool works against the biology the product relies on.
