Product details

The Polaris R0898000 is the general purpose canister for the cleaner, the genuine Fluidra made OEM part.

General purpose versus fine filter

Polaris offers two canisters. This one is the general purpose version, the one most owners run day to day, sized for leaves and the ordinary mix of debris that lands in a pool. A separate fine filter canister is available for pools where the problem is silt, dust or plaster fines rather than leaves.

When to replace it

Canisters take a beating. Once one cracks, splits or stops sealing properly, whatever the cleaner picks up simply washes back out, and the cleaner looks like it has stopped working when the canister is the real fault.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Is this the fine filter canister?
No. R0898000 is the general purpose canister. The fine filter canister is a separate Polaris part.
Which one should I run?
The general purpose canister handles normal leaf and debris loads. Switch to the fine filter version when you are chasing silt or fine dust.
Is it a genuine Polaris part?
Yes. It is the Polaris OEM canister, part number R0898000, made under Fluidra.
When does a canister need replacing?
When it cracks, splits or no longer seals, because debris then washes straight back into the pool instead of staying captured.
