The Polaris K145 is the internal frame for the Polaris 280 pressure side pool cleaner. It is the genuine factory part, the same frame the cleaner is assembled around when it leaves the factory.
What the frame does
Everything on a 280 hangs off this piece. The wheels and their axles, the drive hardware and the covers all locate to the frame, so its condition sets whether the cleaner tracks straight and holds its parts where they belong. Years of sun, chlorine and being dragged across the deck eventually take their toll on the plastic.
When to replace it
Replace the frame when it has cracked or a mounting point has broken away, so that fasteners no longer hold and wheels sit out of line. Since the cleaner has to come apart to fit it, this is also the moment to look at the wheel bearings, screws and other wear parts and refresh anything that is past its best.
