Product details
ProTeam Calcium Up is a calcium hardness increaser, supplied in a 10 pound container. It raises the calcium hardness of pool water into the range that keeps the water from going looking for calcium elsewhere.
Why hardness matters
Water that is short on calcium is aggressive. It will draw calcium out of plaster, out of tile grout and off equipment surfaces until it gets what it needs, and the damage shows up as etching and roughness long after the reading went low. Correcting hardness is the cheap half of that problem.
Target ranges
ProTeam gives two ranges depending on the pool. In vinyl and fiberglass pools, calcium hardness should sit between 150 and 250 ppm. In pools with plaster or similar surfaces, the range is 250 to 350 ppm. Test first, work out the gap and dose to it, then retest rather than guessing at a second dose.
