Product details

The Nidec ASB843A is a 2 HP single speed replacement motor for 56 frame square flange pool and spa pumps. It runs on 208 to 230 volts at 60 Hz, carries a 2.6 total horsepower rating, and comes in the almond finish used on the Pentair pumps it replaces.

What it replaces

This is the direct replacement for the full rated and up rated energy efficient Pentair WhisperFlo models 011515 WFE-8 and 011520 WFE-30. When the motor on one of those pumps fails, the wet end, seal plate and plumbing all stay where they are and only the motor changes, which is far cheaper than a whole new pump.

Square flange and ODP

The 56Y square flange bolts to the square flange seal plate on those wet ends, and the open drip proof enclosure is standard outdoor pool motor construction. Before ordering, read the nameplate on the old motor and confirm the frame, the shaft and the voltage, since square flange and C face motors are not interchangeable and a 115 volt circuit will not run this one.

Plan on new seals

Any motor swap opens the pump at the seal plate, so it is normal practice to fit a fresh shaft seal and the seal plate gasket or o-ring at the same time rather than reusing parts that have already been compressed.

Which pumps does this motor fit?

Is this a genuine Pentair motor?
No. It is the Nidec ASB843A, an aftermarket replacement motor built to fit those Pentair pumps. Pentair sells its own OEM version separately.
Will it run on 115 volts?
No. This motor is 208-230V 60Hz only, so the circuit at the pad has to match.
What is the difference between 2 HP and 2.6 THP?
