Why two speed
Most of a pool day does not need full flow. Low speed turns the water over quietly at a fraction of the draw, and high speed is there for vacuuming, backwashing and heating. Swapping a single speed motor for a two speed one is the cheapest way to cut a filtration bill without replumbing anything.
