Century VGreen Evo Variable Speed 1.30 THP Square Flange Pool Pump Motor, 230/115 Volt, EVQ130

The Century VGreen Evo EVQ130 is a 1.30 total horsepower variable speed motor on a 48Y square flange frame. It is built to bolt onto an existing pump in place of its single or two speed motor: the wet end stays, the plumbing stays, and the motor carries its own drive and user interface, so there is no separate controller to mount or wire.

Why variable speed

A single speed motor runs flat out whenever it runs, pushing more water than the pool needs and paying for it in electricity. A variable speed motor turns the same water over at a lower rpm for longer, which draws a fraction of the power, runs noticeably quieter and keeps the motor cooler, which in turn extends its life. Century lists the EVQ130 as compliant with California Title 20, and the variable speed class is what current Department of Energy rules expect on replacements.

Programming and control

One button on the motor steps through pre-programmed schedules across 600 to 3450 rpm. Voltage is detected automatically on either 230 or 115 V, and freeze protection is built in. On a pad with automation, the motor is listed for the Pentair, Hayward and Jandy systems named in the specifications.

Fit and nameplate

Square flange, 48Y frame, totally enclosed fan cooled, with a threaded 0.625 in. shaft on a 1/2-20 thread and an 8.68 in. frame length. Output is 1.30/1.30 Hp, 0.97 kW, drawing 8.6/15.6 max amps. Note that the source data lists the frequency as 50/60 Hz in one place and 50 Hz on the nameplate. Century lists the motor for Pentair Whisperflo, Max-E-Pro, SuperFlo and SuperMax, Hayward Super Pump and MaxFlo, and Jandy FloPro and PlusHP pumps. C face versions and 1.65 and 2.25 THP ratings exist in the same family.
