Product details

The Century EVC165 is a VGreen Evo variable speed pool pump motor rated 1.65/1.50 hp, wired for 230 or 115 V, on a 56J frame with a round C flange. It replaces a single speed or two speed motor on the pump you already have.

What variable speed changes

A single speed motor runs flat out whenever it runs, which over circulates the water and burns energy doing it. This motor is adjustable from 600 to 3450 rpm, so the pool can be turned over at the slowest speed that still keeps the water clean. Lower speeds are quieter, run the motor cooler, and cut the running cost of the pool without touching the pump itself.

Installation

The VGreen Evo carries its own user interface, so there is no separate drive to mount and no extra wiring or plumbing to add. Programming is done through a single button with a set of pre programmed schedules. Voltage detection is automatic between 230 and 115 V, and freeze protection is built in.

Will this fit my pump?
It is the C flange, or round flange, version on a 56J frame. Century lists it for Hayward® Super and Super II pumps. If your pump takes a square flange motor, that is a different VGreen Evo part number.
Do I need a separate controller?
No. The interface is built into the motor, with pre programmed variable speed schedules selected by one button. Installation is like replacing a single speed or two speed motor, with no additional wiring or plumbing.
Why go variable speed?
A single speed motor runs at high rpm around the clock and over circulates the water. Turning the pool over slowly uses far less energy, runs quieter and keeps the motor cooler, which lengthens its life.
