Century VGreen Evo Variable Speed 2.25 THP Square Flange Pool Pump Motor, 230/115 V, 48Y Frame

The Century EVQ225 VGreen Evo is a 2.25 total horsepower variable speed replacement motor in a 48Y square flange, made to turn an existing single speed pump into a variable speed one without changing the wet end, the plumbing or the wiring. It runs on 230 or 115 V single phase and detects the supply voltage on its own.

Why variable speed

A single speed motor runs flat out whenever it runs, moving far more water than filtration needs. The VGreen Evo can turn anywhere from 600 to 3450 rpm, so it can circulate at a low, quiet speed for most of the day and step up only for a heater, a cleaner or a spa. Lower speeds draw far less power, run cooler and put less wear on the seal and bearings.

Programming and automation

The motor carries its own single button interface with a set of pre-programmed variable speed schedules, so it can be set up on the pad with no controller. It also works with Pentair EasyTouch, IntelliTouch and IntelliConnect, Hayward OmniLogic, ProLogic, OmniPL and EcoStar, and Jandy iQPump 1.0, AquaLink TCX, iAquaLink 3.1 and AquaLink RS.

Fit and construction

Century lists it as a replacement for the Pentair WhisperFlo, Max-E-Pro, SuperFlo and SuperMax, the Hayward Super Pump and MaxFlo, and the Jandy FloPro and PlusHP. It is a totally enclosed fan cooled motor with Class F insulation, a 50 °C ambient rating, automatic thermal protection and freeze protection. The shaft is 0.625 in. with a 1/2-20 thread and the frame is 8.68 in. long in rolled steel. Maximum current is 13.5 A at 230 V and 17.4 A at 115 V.

California

The EVQ225 conforms to the California Energy Commission Title 20 rules for replacement pool pump motors and can be shipped to and installed in California. A C-face version is available for pumps that use a 56J frame.
