Product details

The Century STS1152R is a full rated, energy efficient two speed motor for pool pumps. It is rated 1-1/2 HP on high and 1/4 HP on low at 230 V, on a 56J frame, and it is the motor used with the Hayward® Super Pump, Super II and Max-Flo II.

Why two speeds matter

High speed, 3450 rpm, is there for the jobs that need flow: vacuuming, backwashing and moving water through a heater. Low speed, 1725 rpm, turns the pool over quietly at a fraction of the current draw, and that is where the bulk of a filtration schedule belongs. Service factor is 1.3 and the motor draws 9.0 A on high and 3.3 A on low.

Construction

All copper windings, a sealed switch design, ball bearings at both the drive and opposite drive ends, and a rolled steel frame in an open drip proof enclosure. Thermal protection is automatic. The shaft is 303 stainless steel with a 7/16 in. thread, 0.625 in. in diameter, and the motor measures 15.63 in. overall.

Which pumps does this motor fit?
It is the two speed replacement motor used with the Hayward® Super Pump, Super II and Max-Flo II.
What do the two speeds do?
High speed runs at 3450 rpm for vacuuming, backwashing and heating. Low speed runs at 1725 rpm and draws far less current, which is where most of the filtration hours should go.
Can I use it in California?
Not as a Title 20 compliant motor. It meets the 2008 California Energy Commission appliance regulations, but it is not California Title 20 compliant and is not sold for use there.
