The Pentair 520722 is the replacement transformer for the EasyTouch control system. It takes 115/230 V line power and steps it down to the 22/39 V the EasyTouch electronics run on.
What it does in the panel
Everything inside an EasyTouch enclosure, the main board, the display and the relays it drives, depends on this low voltage supply. When the transformer fails, the panel goes dark and nothing responds, which looks like a dead board to most people. Checking the transformer first can save an expensive board.
Fitting
It is the factory Pentair part and installs in place of the original transformer. Both input voltages are supported, so the same part serves a panel wired for 115 V and one wired for 230 V.
