The Teledyne Laars R0061100 is the control transformer for Jandy Laars pool heaters. It takes the 115V or 220V supply feeding the heater and steps it down to 24V, which is the voltage the ignition control and the rest of the low voltage circuit run on.
What fails and how it shows
A transformer either works or it does not. When it fails, the control board and the ignition sequence get nothing, so the heater looks completely dead even though line power is present at the panel. Checking for 24V leaving the transformer while line voltage is arriving at it settles the question quickly.
